These gorgeous birch trees were inspired by the Second Grade studies of the deciduous forest. Students used a variety of fun tools to create these images. First we used painter’s tape to create our tree forms. We overlapped our tape to create branches and overlapping trees. We then chose two colors of tempera paint that would be interesting when blended in the middle. When the paint was dry students removed the tape and used plastic cards to create the birch tree effect. We scraped black paint onto the trees with the cards. It was exciting to use this new type of painting tool. Finally, we added gold and silver accents. Enjoy our bright forest on this chilly day!
